2003 Long-term Study
In 2003 The Wooden Floor decided to lay the foundation for a long-term study that would compare students at The Wooden Floor sense of “self-concept”, (a learned response pattern that reflects an individual’s evaluation of past behaviors and experiences, and predicts future behaviors), to national norms.
This study will also aid in long-term strategic planning and resource allocation by measuring, over a period of several years, whether there is a correlation between positive self-concept and students’ patterns of program participation. (This would be done by merging survey data with resource usage data.)
The baseline study was implemented in the fall of 2003. As in the 1998 study, survey results indicated:
- Students at The Wooden Floor exceed the national norm in all six dimensions of self-concept
- A positive correlation between length of time at The Wooden Floor and four of the six dimensions measured.
